Our club activities reach out to the community, beautify the community, educate the public about gardening and environmental issues and support the environment.

DGC Partners/Supports…

Indian Prairie Public Library: We support IPPL gardens and the education provided there, provide planting and maintenance of planters, provide displays in the IPPL cases, and more. We co-host community events such as seed swaps, bioblitz and iNaturalist education, Birding Experience, Annual National Garden Week programs, Pollinator Week, Oaktober, etc.

We Garden in the Community…

St. John Monarch Garden: Habitat for migrating monarch and other pollinators.

DGC Sprouts St. John Learning Garden: The “Learning Garden” is maintained by DGC and DGC Sprouts. Produce is donated to the local food pantry. Flowers are donated to local senior assisted living centers. The garden also serves for educational programming for the Sprouts members and families.

Darien VFW Post 2838 Peace Memorial Gardens: The garden is maintained and spruced up for all VFW services held there.

Other Outreach Volunteer Work We do in the Community…

DGC Garden Therapy Team: We work with seniors at three assisted living facilities, providing monthly interactive programs related to gardening and nature.
