Wild Oaktober Celebration
We have walk-up education and fun planned for all ages!
Learn to recognize an Oak tree, find out why they are so important, and leave understanding what you can do to help restore the Oak ecosystem. You may even go home with your very own Oak sapling complements of Bartlett Tree Experts or learn how to plant an acorn to grow your own tree! The exhibits at this walk-up event include education, crafts, games and more! Don't leave the kids (squirrels) at home, we have plenty for them to do.
Join in a tree ID tour on the IPPL grounds, test your tree-mendous knowledge. Learn to ID trees based on their bark, their shape, leaf position on the branches, and much more.
Also during this event Master Naturalists from Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum will be on hand to provide information on native trees and the wildlife that depend on them.
You are also invited to attend a special presentation covering "A Natural History of Oaks" in Keshav Sanghani 's Meeting Room on the second floor of the library.
At 2:00 pm: Join us as we welcome Heather Prince, of Fearless Gardening who will discuss the history of oaks.
Be sure to register to attend the presentation, IPPL link coming soon.
