Information on our speaker Joy Detmer:
Joy has extensive knowledge in gardening and education. She has been a gardener and member of the Daylily Society for 34 years. She is also a retired elementary school art teacher. If you have ever had the opportunity to walk through her garden, you can clearly see how her art background and her immense knowledge of plants come together to create an inviting and beautiful garden. Her garden is a registered Daylily Display Garden and is open to the public.
Joy has certificates in Horticulture and Landscape Design from the College of DuPage. She did her internship at The Growing Place, Naperville, and still works there today. Though her job responsibilities have changed over the years, she is now working alongside Carol Massat (former owner of TGP) to redesign all the inspiration gardens at the Growing Place in Naperville.
